Shopping for a used car in Oklahoma City involves more than just choosing a make and model. For instance, at our OKC used car lot we carry many different versions of the same model car or truck, each with different features and options. Before you decide on the used car you want, you’ll need to figure out which options and extras are right for you.
To make the search a little easier, we’ve put together a guide to some of the most popular options and features available in our Oklahoma City used car inventory. Take a look and see which ones are right for you!
Driving Features
Cruise Control: One of the most popular options on cars today is cruise control, and if you’ve ever taken a long drive in a car without it you know why. Driving long distances on the highway with your foot in the exact same position can be tiring, especially for older car buyers or buyers who are on the road frequently. If you’re planning to do a lot of highway miles in your car, make sure you include cruise control on your list of must-have features.
Four-Wheel Drive and All-Wheel Drive: Many Oklahoma buyers like the extra freedom and capability that a car, truck, or SUV with 4WD or AWD brings them. If you find yourself out in the red dirt a lot or you don’t want to end up stuck when there’s an ice storm, 4WD and AWD are good options to have on your used vehicle.
Manual Transmission: They’re not as popular as they used to be, but many buyers enjoy the extra control and driving response that a manual transmission gives them. It can be hard to find a vehicle sporting a manual at many used car lots, so if you’re interested in getting one make sure to tell the salesperson up front.
Hybrid Engines: Do a lot of stop-and-go city driving? A hybrid vehicle could save you tons of money on gas. While many people think the Toyota Prius is the only major hybrid, the truth is there are many different hybrid cars and trucks from major American and foreign manufacturers. Hybrids can offer far greater fuel economy than straight gas engines, and they also can be used to increase performance and give powerful torque on demand.
Interior Features
Navigation Systems: If you do a lot of driving to new places or you just get lost easily, a built-in car navigation system can make life much easier. These in-car systems are usually mounted in or above the dashboard, and come with free automatic map updates and other features like entertainment and detailed car diagnostics.
Heated and Cooled Seats: Those of you who have lived in Oklahoma long enough know that the only predictable thing about the weather is that it’s unpredictable. Heated or cooled seats can make driving in Oklahoma’s wild weather much more pleasant. When it’s cold out, seat warmers keep you toasty warm, while coolers chill you all around when it’s hot. This is definitely a useful feature for Oklahomans.
Rear-Seat Entertainment: Long drives with kids in the car can be much easier if your vehicle has a rear-seat entertainment system. Pop in the kids’ favorite DVD or music disc and let them watch and listen peacefully without distracting you. Some rear-seat systems even have rear headphone jacks so they can keep the sounds to themselves as well.
Power Systems: Power seats, power steering adjustment, and other powered conveniences make owning a car feel that much more luxurious. Many models today can even remember your chosen presets and automatically adjust the seats, steering wheel, side mirrors and more to your preferences.
Exterior Features
Tow Hitches: One of the most useful additions to any car or truck can be a tow hitch. While they’re designed for hauling heavy loads, a tow hitch can also be used to mount a bike rack, a luggage holder, or even a barbecue grill for tailgating. Many pickup trucks come with tow hitches as standard, but they’re also available options on many SUVs and even regular family cars and vans.
Keyless Entry: Though it might not seem that special today, some cars still don’t come with keyless entry or remote locking/unlocking as standard equipment. This is a very common convenience feature that people ask for, so make sure the car you’re looking at has it if it’s important to you.
Low-Profile Tires: A very popular option on cars today is the addition of low-profile “skinny” tires combined with larger wheel rims. This option is more than just aesthetic, though – it can also make the car handle better in turns and improve acceleration. Usually this is an aftermarket option, but some car manufacturers do offer low-profile tires on their cars from the factory.
